You learn something new everyday! Today it was about Blog Hop:

A blog hop is a linky list that is SHARED ON MULTIPLE BLOGS.
When several blogs put the same linky list code on their blog, the
exact same list appears on each blog.

Blog visitors can submit their entries on any blog that contains the list.
The entries will appear on each blog where the list resides.

Blog readers see the same list on each blog, and can “HOP” from blog
to blog seeing the same list of links to follow: BLOG HOP!

So here is the Blog Hop with blogs covering all different topics but all relating to dogs! Happy reading!

TripWitt.com is a new site that helps potential clients find their perfect travel agent. Visitors to the site can search by destination (city, state, country or region) or by type of travel (Luxury, Ecotourism, Pet-friendly and more) to find the right travel agent for their trip. Once they make a search, they will get a list of available agents that are specialists in what they searched for. The list includes full profiles and contact information for each agent so visitors can contact the agent directly. It’s a great way for home-based agents that specialize in certain niches find potential clients. It’s free!

Have a look at my profile by clicking here! I am a travel agent specializing in Pet Travel (of course!), Europe, and North America (Florida being my main specialty). River cruises are also a specialty but are unfortunately non-pet-friendly.

Sorry I haven’t been posting new articles recently – just trying to get ready for a roadtrip to visit family in North Carolina for Christmas while launching a new website (for honeymoons), working with several clients who are traveling with their pets (and some who are leaving them behind) and other odds and ends that needed to be done before the new year! I will be posting more in January – I promise!

For now, here is a photo of my dog Bodie as he finally sat still long enough to get professionally photographed by Sandra Johnson, during a pet photo event at Woof Gang Bakery in Orlando.

What do I know about traveling with small dogs?

Well, frankly, a lot. My dog, Bodie, has traveled with my husband and I all over Europe (which is where we lived for several years and where he was born – yes, we have a Dutch dog!). Since moving back to the states, he’s already visited 7 states with more trips planned for the future.

Each trip is a learning experience. Searching for the right hotel that allows dogs can sometimes be challenging. It seems hotels, even those in the same chain, all have different rules and regulations that need to be sorted through – i.e. small dogs only, can’t be left unattended, if left unattended then have to be in a crate, no pets allowed. The fees for allowing pets can also vary immensely – I’ve seen charges ranging from free (always good!) to $100 a night! The average cost is usually in the $10-$25 a night range, however.

Lately, our travels have been by car so its easy to plan that part of the trip (luckily Bodie absolutely loves going in the car!). However, once you have flights or trains involved, in can make the trip planning process that much harder! Europe, overall, is a very pet-friendly region – however you shouldn’t assume that because one country allows dogs of all sizes on the trains (i.e. Switzerland) that all countries will allow dogs (i.e. Spain – until recently no dogs were allowed).

So, if it seems a daunting task to organize a trip with your dog, please contact me! I am a travel agent who can help you with your travel plans. I have the experience and knowledge to help plan your trip. And best of all, there’s no extra fees involved!
